Feast Day of St. Alphonsus Maria de Liguori
The first day of the month of August is a very joyful day for the Redemptorists all over the world, because it marks the feast of St. Alphonsus Maria de Liguori, the Zealous Doctor of the Church, the Patron Saint of Confessors and Moral theologians, a Bishop and above all the Founder of the Congregation of the Most Holy Redeemer. It may seem impossible for a man to achieve all these titles in one lifetime but St. Alphonsus made it possible.
The Redemptorists at Mt. St. Alphonsus in Bangalore had a grand celebration in honour of their founder on 01.08.2013. The celebration began with the solemn mass at 11.30 a.m., presided over by Fr. Xavier Sanjivi CSsR. A good number of priests and religious, benefactors and friends were present for the occasion. Fr. Xavier Sanjivi preached a wonderful homily that had its focus on the missionary zeal of St. Alphonsus Liguori, a multi-talented man and the multi-faceted founder of the Redemptorists. The Eucharist ended with the solemn singing of the traditional song in honour of the founder called “Lost in loving Contemplation.” Thereafter, a sumptuous Lunch together was an opportunity to deepen our friendship with one another.
